Det är någonting med svenska filmer, jag kan inte exakt sätta fingret på vad, som inte känns genuint. Jag vet inte om det är så att min uppfattning färgats av åratals av tittande på hollywoodfilmer som lett till att jag fått en viss preferens där svenska filmer inte riktigt platsar. Det är mycket möjligt, men å andra sidan produceras hollywoodfilmer med värstingbudget i mycket högre grad än svenska filmer, så amerikanarna har ju definitivt en fördel när det gäller urval av bättre filmer.

 

Trots att hollywoodfilmer med miljoner i budget har möjlighet att putta sina filmer i vilka riktningar som helst, så tror jag inte problemet med svenska filmer ligger hos budgeten. Ego exempelvis. Det är en film som inte är beroende av specialeffekter eller påkostade studios, här är det dialogen och interaktionen mellan rollerna som står i fokus. Här finns alltså alla möjligheter att skapa ett trovärdigt och utmärkt manus, men filmen är ungefär på samma nivå som Twilight meets en askungesaga. 

 

 

 

Sebastian är en 25årig kille som är urtypen för en stockholmsbrat. Han bor i Östermalm och försörjs av de rika föräldrarna vars pengar han bränner upp på helrör på Stureplan där han plockar hem stereotypiska bimbosar varje helg. En olyckshändelse leder till att han förlorar synen. Livet förändras på två röda, och medan Sebastian har svårt att anpassa sig efter sitt blinda liv, så finns den nya personliga assistenten Mia där för att vägleda honom. De blir kära..trots att Mia egentligen inte är hans typ. 

 

Trots godkända rollprestationer av Martin Wallström och Mylaine Hedreul så är Ego inte ett dugg bättre än den genomsnittliga såpan på kanal 2. Den är förutsägbar, platt och framförallt så förbannat jävla klyschig. Allt är svart och vitt, Mia den kulturella söderhipstern vs Anna Anka-bimbosarna, oj vilket svårt val, eller? Sebastian ger ett väldigt falskt intryck under hela filmens gång och det är svårt att sympatisera med honom. 
Istället för att fokusera på att utveckla historien som faktiskt hade potential, bestämmer man sig för att fylla en tredjedel av filmen med någon fånig talangjakt som istället för att bidra till handlingen bara ger ett oseriöst och oengagerat intryck. Försökte man promota huvudrollen som artist eller vad?

 

Trots all min kritik är Ego ingen dålig film, alls. Det är en bra feel good film med en riktigt duktig Martin Wallström, den fungerar nog väldigt bra som en söndagsångest-film när man har mindre krav på kvalité och mer suktar efter ögongodis och någorlunda underhållning.
